^{Introduction:}

^{Oman Family medicine society was launched on 2005 under the umbrella of Oman Medical Association. The society was initially established by a group of family physicians from SQU and MOH with following objectives:}

^{- Promotion of family medicine and primary health care in Oman}

^{- Improvement of the standards of health services in the primary health care institutions in the country}

^{- Organization of national and international family medicine and primary health care conferences and workshops}

^{- Support and promote evidence based medicine (EBM) in primary health care.}

^{- Organization of continuous professional development (CPD) activities for family physicians}

^{- Promotion of clinical auditing in primary health care}

^{- Strengthening the connection with the international colleges and agencies (RCGP, WONCA, Arab Board)}

^{- Promotion of research in primary health care}

^{- Continuous updating of family physicians in Oman about recent development and advances in family medicine}

^{- Creation of database of family physicians in Oman}
